In partnership with Brent Council we created this important mural honouring local hero and activist Jayaben Desai. She became famous for being a leading figure in the Grunswick strikes of the 1970’s. She led workers–many of whom were south Asian women–in a long battle for better working conditions at the Grunwick Film Processing Laboratories in Dollis Hill. The wall chosen for this mural was in a bad condition and suffered from lots of pan spitting. The artwork had a hugely positive impact and eradicated the problem and created a new respect for the environment.
