Positive Arts with Rolf Harris for the BBC

We have just finished filming with the BBC for a programme celebrating the Queens Jubilee presented by Rolf Harris. We painted a 80s inspired production with our crew Ed (Tizer), Boyd (Solo One), James (Aero) and me (Mr Cenz) at Stockwell Estate, Brixton with the help of art students from Lambeth College. We were and were joined by Rolf on the day and I had the pleasure of teaching him some spray painting skills! The show in on BBC 1 on Thursday 31st May!

Graffiti/Street art course at Conisborough College, Catford

We have just started the first of many 6 week Graffiti/Street art courses at Conisborough College, Catford with a large group of Year 9 students at risk of becoming NEET. We are working in partnership with Plan B Project

Sacred Heart Primary School, Luton

We have just done a very successful one day workshop with the yr 9′s at Sacred Heart Primary School in Luton. We worked with 2 classes and produced 16 different anti bullying boards which will be proudly displayed throughout the school.

Inspirational workshops for Coborn Unit for Adolescent and Children’s Mental Health, Newham

We have just delivered a series of great workshops for the patients of the Coborn Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, in Newham. The y/p worked in small groups to create some brilliant pieces of artwork for display based on positive and inspiring words.

Heres some feedback:

” Positive Arts were really great with the young people, really engaged them and motivated them to participate. When coming up with ideas for the boards the facilitators combined the young peoples suggestions with their own creative vision excellently. ”

Workshops for Amicus Horizon

We have just finished a series of 4 one day workshops for Amicus Horizon at the Streatham Youth and development Trust. The y/p did some great boards for display within the centre themed on dangerous dogs!

Funding Agreed for the Brixton Windmill Mural Restoration Project

We have had the great news that the restoration of the famous Windmill mural, Lyham Road by Mick Harrison and Caroline Thorp — 1983 has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Positive arts will be bringing the mural back to life and the unveiling will be linked to the Queens Jubilee celebrations on the 4th June!

This mural is very faded. Painted in the early-eighties, it shows what can happen to these murals over time. The mural tells the history of Brixton’s Windmill.

The windmill, found in Blenheim Gardens, off Brixton Hill, was built in 1816 and is the only surviving of its kind in inner London.

Graffiti Art Workshops for Play Place ltd

We have just finished two great workshops for Play Place ltd in Rutherwick Rise, Coulsdon and Tollers Lane, old Coulsdon. It was great to work with Chris Hennis and the team again and the y/p had a great time and produced some great work.

Boys event at Mascalls Youth Centre, Paddock Wood, Kent

We did a workshop over the half term for Kent Youth Service at an annual boys event at Mascalls Youth Centre, Paddock Wood. The day went really well and lots of great artwork was produced.
