Positive Arts have won a new Government contract to work exclusively in the London Borough of Hounslow, with young people at risk of becoming NEET (neither in employment, education or training) aged 14/15 years, and young people currently NEET aged 16+, as part of the Government’s ‘Innovation Fund’ initiative.
We are offering young people in the borough the unique opportunity to take part in graffiti/street art courses with a personal and social educational focus and an Arts Award qualification.
This week Chiswick School was the first school to complete our Innovation Fund course and they achieved the first of our arts awards level 1 qualifications with 13 passes! Well done Chiswick!
We worked with a very needy group of students with a range of disadvantages and barriers to learning such as behavioural issues, special educational needs and english as a second language. We worked with them over a 13 week period and created a huge group work mural in the school based around the positive theme of getting active, motivated and engaged in activities. They also created personal portfolios which gained them their Arts Award qualification and will contribute to a B-Tec in art as well.
