Pupils from moving On PRU display artwork for new AQA Entry Level Art and Design

A group of pupils have bee working on a portfolio of work to get their Entry Level Certificate in Art and Design. It has been a great success and due to the amazingly high standard of the work they all passed with flying colours. Heres some of the work from a display at the School.

Street Art Programme at Kingswood PRU

We have just finished a 10-week Street Art programme with a group of students from Kingswood Pupil Referral Unit, Bromley, kent. This was funded by Bromly Mytime and the work will be exhibited in The local Civic Centre. The students worked in small groups to produce large canvases based on personal and social issues of their choice. Here is a couple of example s.

Positive Arts in Germany

We have just got back from a series of workshops for the the Army Welfare Services (AWS) in Germany. We worked with groups of y/p between the ages of 8-16 in Gutersloh, Munster and Herford Youth Centres based on the army barracks. The workshops were very sucessful and some great artwork was produced for display in the centres. Please see pics!

Ramsden Estate artwork goes on display!

For the second time running we have been working with Affinity Sutton Housing Association to engage local kids from the estate to produce some positive street art boards for display on the hoardings of the redevelopment site!Here are some pics of the boards up. Southwark Park mural unveiling

For the past 2 months local young people from Young Friends of Southwark Park and the Youth Inclusion Programme have given up their Saturday’s to work with Positive Arts in the snow and ice and occasionally the sun to produce this wonderful mural.

This project was funded by Community Space Challenge.

This site will be used by various community groups including Young Friends of Parks, Community Space Challenge, Y Volunteer and Bede House. The painted building is the park manager’s office.

‘No Offence’ Exhibition Private View

The evening was a great success with lots of young people with their parents/carers/workers attending to enjoy the artwork, food and film about the project. There are more pics of the artwork in the Croydon YOT section of the gallery!

Springfield Hospital artwork unveiling

We have just finished a 6 week art project with a group of young people who attend the Aquarius mental Health Unit at Springfield Hospital, London. They produced two boards based on the themes of recovery and youth culture for display in the hospital.

For the opening of the of the ‘Ur Choice’ Art exhibition at Battersea Arts Centre we had a private view where the participants and their parents, carers and other professionals were invited to celebrate their achievements. All the y/p were presented with Youth achievement certificates and their portfolios of work. The evening was a great success and enjoyed by all.

No Offence 2 is an exhibition of Art by young people aged 12-17 who have attended the Healthy Living Project (HLP) at the Croydon YOT over the past 4 years.

Young people have explored what they find offensive in society and considered positive alternatives.

Additional works include Profiles with positive elements in young people s lives, victim awareness, the environment and a variety of community focused work.

No Offence 2 also includes Music from HLP with film and imagery from the Football, Boxing, Art and Music groups.

After the success of the first exhibition last year we have completed another 8-week art programme with Battersea crime prevention team, this time focussing on gun crime and gang culture!The work will be previewed and displayed for two weeks at the Battersea Arts Centre from Thursday 24th July!Please see flyer below!
