Ramsden ’street art exhibition’

img_0002YOU ARE INVITED TO THE UNVEILING OF A LARGE PUBLIC ART EXHIBITION OF STREET ART PRODUCED BY YOUNG PEOPLE OF THE RAMSDEN ESTATE, ORPINGTON , KENT ON FRIDAY 12TH AUGUST AT 4PM. THE WORK IS GOING TO BE DISPLAYED ON THE HOARDINGS AROUND THE REDEVELOPMENT SITE, TINTANGEL ROAD FOR AS LONG AS THE BUILDING WORK CONTINUES.

THIS IS AN EXHIBITION OF ISSUE BASED ARTWORK CREATED AT VARIOUS WORKSHOPS BETWEEN SEPT 2004 AND JULY 2005. THE PROJECT HAS BEEN FUNDED BY BROOMLEIGH HOUSING ASSOCIATION AND FACILITATED BY COMMUNITY ARTS COMPANY ‘POSITIVE ARTS’.

THE AIM OF THE PROJECT WAS TO GET LOCAL YOUNG PEOPLE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 8 – 18 INVOLVED IN THE REGENERATION OF THE RAMSDEN ESTATE AND TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO FEEL PART OF THE AREAS REVIVAL . THROUGH THE WORK THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EXPRESS THEIR VIEWS ON THE CHANGES AND ALSO PERSONAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES RELEVANT TO ALL YOUNG PEOPLE I.E CRIME, DRUGS AND HEALTH.
